LIFE Malopolska summary – June 2025!

The competence centre coordinates activities aimed at strengthening the implementation of the Air Protection Programme. It provides ongoing support and training for eco-managers in all relevant areas. The centre also develops tools to support the work of eco-managers.
Key events:
- On 2 June, representatives of the Competence Centre took part in training on the operation and practical use of the Central Register of Building Emissions at the municipal level. The training was organised for eco-advisers, officials and municipal guards who use the database in their work.
- The central final of the 40th Environmental Knowledge Olympiad took place on 6–8 June. The aim of the Environmental Knowledge Olympiad is to raise the level of knowledge and responsibility of the younger generation for the state and protection of the environment. The aim of the event is consistent with the objectives of the LIFE Małopolska in a Healthy Atmosphere project, which, among other things, carries out activities to raise the ecological and climate awareness of residents. This year’s edition of the Environmental Knowledge Competition brought together almost 18,000 students from all over Poland. Approximately 170 people took part in the final. The event was financed by the LIFE EKOMAŁOPOLSKA and LIFE Małopolska in a Healthy Atmosphere projects and partly by the Ministry of National Education.

- On 9–12 June, members of the Air Protection Group, coordinated by the Ministry of Climate and Environment, took part in a study visit to Madrid. The trip was organised as part of the ‘Partnership: Environment for Development’ project and aimed to exchange knowledge and good practices in the field of air protection with Spanish institutions and to develop the participants’ competences in the area of EU legislation implementation. The exchange of experiences between Poland and Spain is a valuable element in the development of a common European policy for clean air, climate change mitigation and the protection of citizens’ health.
