Summary of LIFE Malopolska – April 2025!


The Excellence Centre coordinates activities aimed at strengthening the implementation of the Air Quality Plan (for Malopolska Region). It provides continuous support and training for Ecomenagers across all key areas. Tools supporting the work of Ecomenagers are also developed within the Centre.

Key events:

  • On April 28, the Regional Assembly of the Malopolska Region adopted a resolution granting subsidies to 50 municipalities in the region to support the poorest residents in the replacement of non-class boilers. The aim of the programme is to provide municipalities in the Malopolska Region with financial resources to support the poorest residents in replacing non-class boilers, which are one of the causes of air pollution in the region. The programme aims to improve air quality by eliminating old, inefficient boilers emitting harmful substances into the atmosphere. The total amount of funding is PLN 5 million. Each municipality included on the primary list will receive PLN 100,000 in support.
  • On April 10, workshops were held focusing on strengthening the implementation of anti-smog regulations at the regional and local levels, with particular emphasis on Anti-smog resolutions. Representatives of the Ministry of Climate and Environment and other public institutions, marshal offices, municipalities, and non-governmental organizations involved in air protection participated in the workshops. During the sessions, the main barriers to enforcement were identified, including legal, systemic, and financial issues, and proposals for solutions were jointly developed.

Representatives of the Excellence Centre took part in subsequent webinars from the series “Meeting with a National Energy Conservation Agency expert”.

“Eco-intervention” application

In April, 447 reports were submitted via the application, which is also available on the website.

Breakdown:

  • 268 reports concerning air pollution,
  • 107 reports of illegal dumping sites,
  • 43 reports of sewage discharge and waste dumping,
  • 29 reports classified as “other”.

The Excellence Centre responded to over 70 inquiries addressed to the Marshal Office of the Malopolska Region via email, as well as 20 phone inquiries.
