‘Anti-smog resolutions from A to Z: challenges, solutions and good practices’ – conference summary
On 2 December this year, the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow hosted another conference organised by the Department of the Environment of the Marshal’s Office of the Malopolska Region. The main topic of the meeting was anti-smog resolutions and motivational support for eco-managers. The event brought together 200 employees of municipalities and districts.
Implementation of anti-smog resolutions
One of the topics discussed during the conference was the implementation of anti-smog resolutions, particularly in the context of the anti-smog resolution for Małopolska region. This is because as of 1 May 2024, a ban on the use of heating boilers below class 3 has come into force in our region. The anti-smog legislation in force is aimed at improving air quality, and thus at improving the health of Małopolska residents. During the presentation, experts recalled the key principles and provisions introduced by the anti-smog resolutions and explained any doubts regarding the interpretation of these regulations.
Motivational support for eco-managers
Another important topic raised during the conference was motivational support for eco-managers in doing their job. These persons play a key role in the implementation of the Air Programme, among other things by helping residents to comply with the current legislation. They are often exposed to criticism, but also face difficult challenges, such as resident poverty. During the meeting, the experts stressed the importance of properly motivating eco-managers. They made suggestions for motivation mechanisms that would influence the effectiveness of our eco-advisors. Issues related to the prevention of burnout at work or resilience to stress were also raised.
