Appeal on the Clean Air Programme
Łukasz Smółka – Marshal of the Małopolskie Voivodeship – made an appeal to representatives of the Polish government, including the Prime Minister, the Minister for Climate and Environment and the President of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, to immediately restore the full functioning of the Clean Air Programme.
I appeal for the immediate reinstatement of the Clean Air Programme and urgent resumption of the call for applications. This decision is necessary to continue the process of improving air quality, strengthen public trust and support the implementation of anti-smog resolutions at the provincial and local level – Łukasz Smółka – Marshal of Małopolskie Voivodeship.
For years, the Clean Air Programme has provided substantial support for residents in the process of thermo-modernising buildings and replacing outdated heating equipment. In Małopolska Region, the Programme is the foundation for the implementation of the anti-smog resolution.
The Małopolskie Voivodeship Self-Government has put enormous effort into implementing the objectives of the Clean Air Programme. Support systems and training were implemented for the employees of the municipalities, extensive educational campaigns were carried out for the inhabitants and guides and information materials were created. Particular attention was paid to supporting the poorest residents by implementing pilot programmes in cooperation with the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
The result of these activities was an increased awareness of the inhabitants of Małopolska and high activity in submitting applications for funding. The mechanisms developed have become a model for other voivodeships.
The reinstatement of the Programme is crucial for the continuation of clean air activities and the fulfilment of obligations under national legislation and EU directives.
