Summary of LIFE Malopolska – November 2024!
The competence centre coordinates activities to strengthen the implementation of the Air Protection Programme. It provides continuous support and training for eco-managers in all relevant fields. The centre also develops tools to support the work of the eco-managers.
Highlights:
- On 14-15 November, the 6th edition of the International Conference ‘Air Quality and Energy Efficiency 2024’ took place in Krakow, organised by the Małopolska Centre for Energy-Efficient Construction of the Krakow University of Technology in cooperation with the Department of Environment of the Office of the Marshal of the Małopolska Region. It was a key event in the framework of the Krakow Scientific Conferences, dedicated to climate-neutral construction.
- On 4 November, a meeting was held with the monitor of the LIFE IP Małopolska in a healthy atmosphere project, with the participation of the so-called ‘Project Advisor’ from the CINEA Agency. During the meeting, the project was evaluated, progress was discussed and the project’s action plan for the coming months was presented.
- On 22 November 2024, another meeting of representatives of the Małopolska and Podkarpackie voivodeships took place. This was an important event in the framework of interregional cooperation aimed at exchanging experience and working together to protect the environment. Podkarpacie, currently implementing the LIFE project ‘Podkarpackie – live and breathe’, had the opportunity to draw inspiration from the experience of Małopolska, which is successfully implementing the LIFE IP project ‘Małopolska in a healthy atmosphere’.
- On 26-27 November, a workshop for employees of marshal offices on preparing for the implementation of the new Directive on Air Quality and Cleaner Air for Europe and the Air Quality Forum took place. The meeting was organised by the Ministry of Climate and Environment as part of the Partnership: Environment for Development project.
- The audit carried out by the Supreme Chamber of Control (NIK) at the Marshal’s Office of the Małopolskie Voivodeship was still ongoing in November. The audit concerned the implementation of anti-smog resolutions. It aims to assess the implementation and effectiveness of measures taken in the Małopolskie Voivodeship to improve air quality.
- Meetings on the Social Climate Fund have been taking place throughout the month to discuss details related to the new source of financial support. The Social Climate Fund has been established to mitigate the social impacts associated with the introduction of the new ETS2. The fund is intended to support investments that reduce fossil fuel consumption, create new jobs and achieve the objectives of the European Green Deal.
- We have met the winners of the fifth edition of the EKO HERO Małopolska 2024 plebiscite. The best communes in the Eko Hero Gmina 2024 ranking, which comprehensively assesses the actions taken by the local government units of Małopolska voivodeship and the inhabitants of the communes to improve the situation in the area of the state and environmental protection, are the communes of Bukowno, Liszki and Szczawnica; in the area of atmospheric air and climate protection: the Sucha Beskidzka, Pałecznica and Skała municipalities.
- Representatives of the Competence Centre took part in the next webinar in the series ‘Meeting an expert from the National Energy Conservation Agency’.
- 6.11 – ‘Building carbon footprint – FoCA platform – the first step’.
- 20.11 – ‘German-Polish Energy Platform. Building energy communities based on case studies’.

’Eco-intervention’ application
In November, 668 applications were accepted through an application also available on the website
Listed were:
- 576 reports of air pollution,
- 42 reports of wild dumps,
- 37 reports of sewage and waste discharge,
- 13 reports classified as ‘other’ reports.
The Competence Centre responded to more than 65 enquiries addressed to the Marshal’s Office of the Małopolska Region in the form of e-mails and 50 telephone enquiries.
