The second edition of the “Sustainable Transformation: Environment, Climate, Energy” programme has begun!
The energy transition requires not only technology and investment, but above all people who can effectively implement changes at the local level. The second edition of the “Sustainable Transformation: Environment, Climate, Energy” programme has begun at the AGH University of Krakow, with employees of local government authorities in the Małopolska Region in mind.
During the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Professor Artur Wyrwa, Vice-Dean for Cooperation and Science at AGH University of Krakow, and Tomasz Pietrusiak, Deputy Director of the Department of the Environment at the Marshal Office of the Malopolska Region. In their speeches, they emphasised the importance of knowledge and skills among local government employees for effectively implementing the energy transition at the local level.
The programme is aimed at local government employees, particularly Ecomenagers, who deal with energy transition, improving air quality and developing renewable energy sources in their day-to-day work. It addresses the growing need to deepen knowledge in these areas and explore current funding opportunities for environmental initiatives. The programme also provides a platform for exchanging experience and good practices among people responsible for air quality protection, energy and sustainable development in their respective municipalities.
The programme, developed by the Faculty of Energy and Fuels at AGH University of Krakow, combines technical knowledge with practical skills useful in the day-to-day work of local government authorities. Participants explore topics including air quality protection, environmental analysis, conventional and renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, local energy planning and vehicle emissions. An important part of the programme consists of practical classes covering, among other things, the preparation and analysis of building energy performance assessments, legal aspects of renewable energy sources, project management and feasibility studies.
Communication and social skills are also an important part of the programme. Participants develop their self-presentation, communication and negotiation skills – competencies that are particularly important in the work of an Ecomanager, who operates both within the local government office and directly among residents, conducting educational and information activities.
The inauguration of the second edition marks the beginning of another stage of intensive learning, experience-sharing and cooperation-building. The energy transition takes place primarily at the local level – in municipalities, among residents and through the efforts of people who contribute to this change every day. Investing in the knowledge and skills of local government employees is therefore an important element in strengthening the potential of the Malopolska Region.
Thanks to the support of the European Funds for Małopolska 2021–2027 programme, the development of specialists has once again been supported. They will translate the knowledge they have acquired into tangible action to improve air quality, enhance energy efficiency and promote the sustainable development of municipalities across the Malopolska Region.
The second edition of the postgraduate programme “Sustainable Transformation: Environment, Climate, Energy” is being delivered as part of Project 2.5.C, “Supporting the Energy Transition of Municipalities in the Malopolska Region”, co-funded by the European Union under the European Funds for Małopolska 2021–2027 programme.
