Modern heating systems – what does the future hold?
On 19 June this year, another conference organised by the Department of the Environment of the Marshal’s Office of the Małopolska Region was held at the Home Army Museum in Kraków. The theme of the meeting was modern heating systems. The event was full of interesting lectures, analyses and debates on the future of the energy sector.
Modern heating systems are the key to a sustainable energy future. We need to invest in innovative technologies and efficient solutions to meet the challenges posed by a rapidly changing energy market.

The invited guests included experts from the energy industry, representatives of local authorities and institutions interested in modern heating solutions. The meeting was a great opportunity for everyone to learn more about, among other things, the current challenges facing the energy market in Poland.
Implementation of the tasks of the Air Protection Programme in 2023
Deputy Director of the Department of Environment Tomasz Pietrusiak presented the key achievements resulting from the Programme, such as reduction of pollutant emissions, modernisation of heating infrastructure and financial support for households. The Director also drew attention to the challenges arising from the document, including the need for further public education and financial support for residents.
Modern heating equipment
Subsequently, Janusz Starościk – President of the Management Board of the Association of Manufacturers and Importers of Heating Equipment presented hybrid heating system models. He discussed the advantages and disadvantages of various technologies. The speaker also drew attention to the energy efficiency and environmental aspects of various systems. He thus emphasised the importance of choosing the right solution in terms of environmental protection and operating costs.
Current situation on the energy market in Poland
The current situation in the energy market was presented by Jakub Wiech, an economic journalist and editor-in-chief of the Energetyka24.com portal. In his presentation, he provided an analysis of the dynamically changing economic and political conditions affecting the energy sector. He discussed factors affecting energy prices, including the rising cost of raw materials, changing regulatory rules and the impact of global events on the market. He also pointed out that the growing interest in renewable energy sources and investment in energy storage technologies could significantly impact the future of the energy market.
Choosing a heating source in the face of an energy crisis – what next?
One of the highlights of the conference was a debate on the future of gas over the next decade and an analysis of the current energy market situation. The debate was attended by: Anetta Kucharska – Head of the Environmental Protection and Waste Management Department of the Zabierzów Municipality, Jakub Wiech and Janusz Starościk. The debate was chaired by Katarzyna Stadnik – Head of the Air Protection Team.
Invited speakers addressed the role of gas as an energy source in the context of the global energy transition. They discussed forecasts for demand for gas and other energy carriers, opportunities for infrastructure development and potential alternatives to gas, such as biomethane or hydrogen. Participants in the debate stressed the importance of investment in modern technologies and the need for a sustainable approach to energy policy.
